NEET

Your Future, Your Choice

The more skills you have, the more choice you have when looking for a job. The better the job, the better your future. This may mean your best option now is to stay in, or get back into, education, training or work-based learning

Youth Service can help you

If you are 16 or 17 years old and not in education, training or work, Youth Service may be able to help you. Youth Service may also be able to help you if you are 15 year olds and no longer attending school. Talk to your local Youth Service provider for more information.

Youth Service has community-based providers who will give guidance, support and encouragement to help you find the education, training or work-based learning that works for you.

A Youth Service provider is an organisation near you. Experienced in working with young people, they know what’s available for you and where to find it.

They can talk through your options for education or training and will help plan how to get you where you want to be.

Making the right decisions now about your future can help you get further, faster.

YP & YPP

Financial Assistance & Obligations

Some young people will work with a Youth Service provider as part of getting financial support from Work and Income. This includes young people who are receiving Youth Payment, Young Parent Payment or receive support as a partner of a specified beneficiary.

If you’re receiving financial support, you’ll have to meet your obligations to keep getting your payments.

If you don’t have a good reason for not meeting these obligations your payment will be reduced or stopped
